We are not a club. We are not a band. We are more than an organization. We are a movement.
The Black Girl Movement.

 Welcome to Sistrs for Power, Inc., (SISTRS). It is our vision to uplift and promote positive self-esteem and cultural awareness for the younger generations of black women that will be the leaders of tomorrow. We strive to destroy and deter from negative media images before they begin, encourage artistic and creative outlets and communication, while building strong positive female bonds and providing role models for the younger generations.

We also aim to assist young women in the development of their creativity by providing them with the opportunity to showcase their gifts and talents.

SISTRS creates and centralizes resources for young black women to address health, educational, cultural, social, and economic needs through a variety of innovative approaches, publications, programs and services.

Our goal at SISTRS is to attack several issues and concerns that we feel need to be immediately addressed within the young black female community, such as;
  • Positive Self-Esteem and Self Images
  • Negative Media Images of Young Black Girls and Women
  • AIDS, HIV and STD Awareness & Prevention
  • Gossip and Backstabbing
  • Teenage Pregnancy
  • The Importance of Volunteering
  • Positive Role Models, and
  • Educational Resources and Higher Education

  “The things I have to talk to my children about, at such a young age…
it would blow your mind. I have to constantly reassure my daughter that she’s beautiful."
 Actress Jada Pinkett-Smith, on raising her daughter.
